Video: Elephant Joins Football Game At Army Camp In Assam, Kicks For A Bit, Leaves

At a military base in Guwahati, Assam, a group of people playing football were startled when a wild elephant unexpectedly entered the field and took a brief role in the game.
The elephant first crosses a road in the widely circulated social media footage before deciding to participate in the game.

The wild elephant drags in some dirt and sprays itself on its back just before approaching the football field, so the players halt the game and go further out into the field to keep a safe distance from it.

The ball is passed to the elephant by someone. It can kick the ball back using its back legs. The elephant then slowly exits the area with its trunk up as if to communicate

Locals speculated that it may have traveled there searching for food from the adjacent Amchang Wildlife Sanctuary.

In Assam, there are a lot of elephant corridors. Wild elephant populations sometimes wander into roadways.
