As much as it is a joy to become a mother, this journey is equally challenging. During the entire 9 months of pregnancy, various changes occur in a woman’s body. One has to struggle with physical and mental problems. There is swelling in legs, weight gain, vomiting and digestion related problems. Along with this, many women also face the problem of urine leakage. Women are not able to control urine.

This causes a lot of discomfort. Why does this happen? Is it normal for this to happen? You will know everything in this article.

Why Does the Problem of Urine Leakage Occur during Pregnancy?

  • Urine leakage is normal during pregnancy. This happens in the third trimester. Actually, when a woman is pregnant, the uterus is preparing itself for children.
  • In this situation it creates pressure on your bladder. The bladder is just in front of the uterus. The uterine tubes carry urine. In this situation, the possibility of urine leakage increases during pregnancy due to increased pressure on the bladder by the uterus.
  • At the same time, due to increase in the size of the stomach, the tissues and muscles of the pelvic floor expand. Due to this the spinster muscles become weak.
  • When delivery takes place, both the uterus and bladder return to their normal positions. This process takes about 6 weeks to happen. This is the reason why sometimes urine leakage can occur even after pregnancy. Apart from this, UTI is common during pregnancy, due to which urine leakage also occurs.

According to research, some exercises can be used to strengthen the pelvic muscles. Kegel exercises can reduce the problem of urine leaking. However, if you have this kind of problem then first consult your doctor.
