594 km long, worth Rs 36,000 crore: PM Modi to lay foundation stone of Ganga Expressway in UP

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of the 594-km long Ganga Expressway in Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur on Saturday. The six-lane expressway, built at a cost of Rs 36,230 crore, is being tipped as the longest expressway in Uttar Pradesh.

Starting near Bijauli village in Meerut, the expressway will extend till near Judapur Dandu village in Prayagraj. With a better network and interconnectivity of expressways, every end of Uttar Pradesh will be connected to Lucknow and Delhi.

The program of laying the foundation stone of Ganga Expressway by PM Modi will begin at Railway Ground Rauza from Shahjahanpur at 12 pm.

* The estimated cost of the six-lane Ganga Expressway is Rs 36,230 crore.

* The expressway will pass through twelve districts including Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli and Pratapgarh.

* Seven railway overbridges, 14 major bridges, 126 minor bridges, 375 underpasses, nine public convenience complexes, two toll plazas and 15 ramp toll plazas will be constructed in Ganga Expressway

* Interchange facilities will be available at 17 places on the Ganga Expressway.

* 3.5 km long airstrip will also be constructed in Shahjahanpur.

* Around 18,55,000 trees will be planted along the Ganga Expressway.
