Babita Kumari Phogat was born on November 20, 1989. He was born in Bhiwani, Haryana. His father is Mahavir Phogat, who is a famous name in the field of wrestling. Mahavir Singh Phogat is an Indian amateur wrestler, senior Olympic coach and politician. Phogat was honored with the Dronacharya Award by the Government of India in the year 2016. Babita’s mother’s name is Daya Kaur.

Babita is one of the famous Phogat sisters. Her elder sister Geeta Phogat is also a freestyle wrestler, who won India’s first gold medal in wrestling at the Commonwealth Games in 2010. Geeta is also the first Indian female wrestler to qualify for the Olympic Summer Games. Her youngest sister Ritu Phogat is also an international level wrestler and won a gold medal at the 2016 Commonwealth Wrestling Championship. His younger sister Sangeeta Phogat is also a wrestler.

She married fellow wrestler Vivek Suhag in 2019, and is currently the mother of a child. In August 2019, he entered politics by joining the Bharatiya Janata Party. In the 2019 Haryana Assembly elections, she was the BJP candidate from Dadri Assembly constituency. Babita lost this election.
