C. N. Annadurai (1909-1969) was the first Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, India. He was a leader of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party and is considered one of the most important figures in Tamil history. Annadurai was born in a poor family in Ettayapuram, Tamil Nadu on 15th September 1909. He studied law and worked as a journalist before entering politics. He was elected to the Madras Legislative Assembly in 1957 and became the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu in 1967. Annadurai was a popular and charismatic leader who is remembered for his speeches and his work for the welfare of the people of Tamil Nadu.
