Underwater Metro: PM Modi Flags off Country’s First Underwater Metro

PM Narendra Modi today (March 6) inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of several connectivity projects worth Rs 15,400 crore. He reached Kolkata on Tuesday (5 March). This is PM Modi's second visit to West Bengal within five days.

PM gives green signal to underwater metro
PM inaugurated the country's first underwater metro in Kolkata today. After this he traveled by sitting in the metro. He interacted with many students in the metro. Apart from this, PM Modi also interacted with metro employees while traveling in the train. Bengal BJP President Sukant Majumdar and WB LOP and BJP MLA Suvendu Adhikari were also present in the train along with PM Modi.

About Underwater Metro:

The Metro Tunnel is built under the Hooghly River of Kolkata.
This tunnel is 16.6 kilometers long.
The underwater metro will run 32 kilometers below the bottom of the Hooghly river.
The 4.8 km extension of Kolkata's East West Metro Corridor connects Howrah Maidan to Esplanade.
The underwater metro features six stations, three of which are situated underground.
This metro will connect Howrah to Kolkata city.
