Former cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi is no more

Former India captain Bishan Singh Bedi died on Monday after a prolonged illness. He was 77 years old. For the past two years, Bedi had been battling ill health, during which she had to undergo several medical procedures, including a knee surgery about a month ago.

Bishan Singh Bedi, born on September 25, 1946, played a total of 67 Tests for India from 1966 to 1979 and took 266 wickets. He also captained the national team in 22 test matches. He also took seven wickets in 10 One Day Internationals and played a key role in India's first win in this format.

Bedi used to wear colorful patka and has always been known for his outspoken and frank views on cricketing matters. He received the Padma Shri award in 1970 and the C.K. Naidu Lifetime Achievement Award.
