Japan Annunciates an Investment of $42 billion in India Over the Next Five Years.

Japan on Saturday announced an investment of five trillion yen over the five years in the 14th India-Japan Annual summit.

In the joint press conference with the Japanese counterpart Fumio Kisida, PM Modi said amplifying India-Japan ties will not only benefit the two countries but will also help embolden peace and prosperity in the indo-pacific region.

PM Modi posits India and Japan understand the importance of a secure, trusted, predictable, and stable energy supply and that both sides are determined to expand overall cooperation.

The two subordinate countries peened six agreements providing for the expansion of bilateral cooperation in a range of areas, besides firming clean energy and partnership.

Japan has been supporting India's urban infrastructure development and a high-speed railway based on its bullet train technology.

The two leaders also discussed global issues including the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

"Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine coincides with this trip, I'd like to emphasize the importance of international unity..." Kishida said before the visit.

Referring to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Japanese PM Kishida said, “Unilateral attempts to change the status quo using force should not be allowed.”

“Russia's invasion of Ukraine is a very serious incident which has shaken the roots of international rules and world order,” the Japanese PM said, adding, “We should be committed to stop any kind of unilateral changes by use of force.”
