Sources: Gehlot supporters may resign and oppose the Pilot camp’s selection of the CM

According to sources, Ashok Gehlot-supporting Congress MLAs are likely to submit their resignations in opposition to the nomination of the new chief minister of Rajasthan from among those who overthrew Gehlot's administration in July 2020. The MLAs are currently congregating at Congress MLA Shanti Kumar Dhariwal's home.

Several ministers in the Rajasthan administration have argued for Ashok Gehlot to be kept in both positions of chief minister and party president because Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is insistent on implementing the "one man, one job" policy within the party.

Mallikarjun Kharge and Ajay Maken, the general secretary in charge of Rajasthan, have both been nominated as observers by Congress president Sonia Gandhi. They would proceed to the meeting of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, according to KC Venugopal, general secretary of the AICC.

He asserted that the Congress's strength has been the ability of all party leaders to come to an agreement through discussion.

Gehlot implied that a shift of leadership in the state was about to occur by saying that the younger generation should now get an opportunity because he has served in constitutional positions for 40 years. Gehlot, who has declared his candidacy for the position of Congress president, made the comments while travelling to Jaisalmer to pray at the Tanot Mata Temple. They were a hint that Sachin Pilot might be selected by the Congress to succeed Gehlot in the state.

Senior leader Kharge claimed that the high leadership had requested that he meet with every MLA.

This is the second gathering of the Congress Legislature Party in the past week. On September 20, there was the most recent meeting.

Gehlot made the first presidential candidate announcement for the AICC on Friday, claiming that former president Rahul Gandhi had advised him that no member of the Gandhi family should succeed him as party leader.
