They Robbed 5.7 Lakh in Delhi, Motivated by the Film “Special 26”

Thieves posing as from Mumbai Last week, police officers robbed a Delhi company of lakhs of rupees. According to authorities, seven people who were detained in this connection, including two women, said that the Bollywood film "Special 26" served as their inspiration.
Sanjay Manocha, the chairman of the Nuh Municipal Council in Haryana, who ran for office with support from the BJP and the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP), was one of the accused, according to reports.

According to Usha Rangarani, DCP, North West Delhi, the crime happened at a wellness business owned by Vijay Yadav in Netaji Subhas Place last Wednesday.

Around 12:30 PM, four people—including a woman—showed up at his office and identified themselves as Mumbai Police officials, Mr. Yadav reported to the police. They were sporting what seemed to be identity cards from the Mumbai Police.

According to the police, they took the employees' cell phones and made a 20 lakh rupee demand. At the point of a gun, the complainant was instructed to call his wife and arrange the payment. His wife found a way to arrange 5.75 lakh and gave it to a female accuser who was waiting outside his office.

According to investigators, they also took his bank and credit card information.

The staff were locked inside the office for five hours before the burglars fled with the cash, cell phones, and other items.

The police arrested one of the suspects after identifying him as Prashant Kumar Patil of Libaspur from CCTV footage. When questioned, he admitted that two ladies and five males were also involved in the crime, and $2.5 lakh was found on him.

He provided information that led to the arrest of Jyoti and Neha Kashyap, two Delhi residents. Four more people were later detained from separate locations in Madhya Pradesh and Haryana: Zahid alias Guru Ji, Sanjay Manocha, Faisal, and Imran. Another suspect, Majid, is missing.

During questioning, the suspects acknowledged that the movie "Special 26" served as their inspiration for the robbery plot. According to authorities, Zahid and Prashant were the main organisers of the robbery, while Majid is currently being sought.
