History of Food Day

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) was established in 1945. This organization works on food security and nutrition. The organization makes people aware about food and nutritious diets. Due to the efforts of the organization, the decision to celebrate World Food Day was taken in 1979. Celebration of World Food Day started from 16 October 1981.

Theme of World Food Day 2023

According to the World Food and Agriculture Organization, World Food Day, an annual event celebrating the anniversary of the FAO and one of the United Nations’ most famous days mobilizing global action for agri-food system transformation, has its 2023 theme, “Water is life, water is food.”

Importance of food day

Many countries of the world are currently below the poverty line. People in these countries are not getting a balanced diet. Due to this, most of the population is becoming malnourished. Due to the lack of a balanced and nutritious diet, people are suffering from many diseases. This day is celebrated with the aim of eliminating the problem of malnutrition and making people aware of a balanced and nutritious diet.
