India has made it to the semi-finals of the World Cup. They won by 302 runs against Sri Lanka on Thursday (November 2) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Team India became the first team to reach the semi-finals. It achieved its biggest win in terms of runs in World Cup history. Earlier in 2007, it had defeated Bermuda by 257 runs. India’s next match will now be against South Africa on Sunday (November 5).

If we talk about the overall biggest win in the World Cup, Australia is at first place in this matter. In the same edition, it won against Netherlands by 309 runs in Delhi. Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bowl first. India scored 357 runs for eight wickets in 50 overs. In reply, the Sri Lankan team was reduced to 55 runs. This is his second lowest score against India in ODIs.

India’s seventh consecutive victory

This is India’s seventh consecutive victory in this World Cup. He has not faced defeat even in a match. Team India has defeated Australia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, New Zealand, England and Sri Lanka. He now has to play against South Africa and Netherlands. On the other hand, this is Sri Lanka’s fifth defeat in seven matches. He now has to play two matches against Bangladesh and New Zealand. To reach the semi-finals, it will have to depend on the results of other countries after winning both the matches.

Indian bowlers wreaked havoc, Shami made a big record

Indian fast bowlers did not allow the Sri Lankan batsman to survive. Jasprit Bumrah trapped Pathum Nissanka LBW on the very first ball of the innings. The Sri Lankan team could not recover from this setback till the end. Mohammed Shami took maximum five wickets for India. Mohammad Siraj took three wickets in his name. Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja got one success each.
