Two weeks after the original public beta of Android 14, Google launched Android 14 Beta 1.1 for Pixel smartphones. This is a tiny update that comes ahead of the second beta, which is set to be released next month. Android 14 Beta 1.1 is already available to all beta users and should be available to all eligible smartphones over the next few days.

Google Android 14 Beta 1.1 fixes several bugs

The Pixel 4a and newer models registered in the Android 14 Beta program are eligible for the over-the-air update. Google has resolved many bugs affecting the user experience on Pixel smartphones running the Android 14 beta edition in its latest update.

One of these problems was gaining access to the Wallpaper & Style panel. When users attempted to access this screen using the Settings app or by long-pressing from the home screen, the system UI crashed. Google has resolved this issue, allowing users to access the Wallpaper & Style screen without experiencing any problems.

Google fixed problems with fingerprint unlock

Another fault that has been fixed concerns the fingerprint unlock feature. Some customers were unable to use this function due to technical difficulties, which Google has already resolved. Users should be able to use the fingerprint unlock feature without issue after this bug repair.

Some users reported that the mobile network was not displayed in the status bar, which could be problematic for those who rely on this information. Google has addressed this issue in the most recent beta update, ensuring that the mobile network is accurately displayed in the status bar.

There were challenges with the recognition and activation of SIM cards or eSIMs for some users. Google has officially resolved this issue, allowing impacted consumers to use their smartphones without experiencing any issues with SIM cards or eSIMs. When Smart Lock was enabled, the lock screen displayed a message with an unresolved string placeholder, which was corrected by the patch.
