TATA Group To Manufacture iPhones In India

After the opening of physical retail stores of Apple in Delhi and Mumbai, reports of a brimming partnership between Tata Group and Apple are making rounds all over the internet. According to some reports, Apple has announced a strategic partnership with Tata Group for setting up a manufacturing base in India, wherein 5 per cent of iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 plus would be manufactured by the TATA Group. 

The inclination of Apple towards the Indian market 

Apple has been diversifying its supply chain and manufacturing operations as a result of strained geopolitical ties with China and the pandemic factor. The inclination of Apple towards the Indian market is due to its ability to provide these businesses with a number of advantages, such as a large number of trained workers and reduced labour costs compared to other significant manufacturing hubs. 

The manufacturers of iPhones in India 

Till now, Apple has been in contact with three companies for its iPhone manufacturing in India.  Foxconn, Pegatron, Wistron. Recently, Tata has been According to some reports, Tata will most likely become the fourth iPhone assembler of Apple. 

The advent of the TATA Group 

The Tata Group is a global company with holdings in the automotive, steel, and hotel sectors, among others. The business is well-known for its cutting-edge goods and services and has a significant presence in India.  The considerable growth of the Tata Group's already varied portfolio of operations and its entry into the iPhone production market. In 2021, only 1% of Apple’s iPhones were manufactured in India, however, the number has gone up by 7% now. In the upcoming years, iPads and iPods will also be manufactured in India.
