Benefits of Giloy

Giloy is considered very useful in Ayurveda. It is beneficial in curing diseases like fever, dengue, chikungunya, viral fever, cough, cold and diabetes. Giloy also removes the problems related to the stomach. Giloy has anti-inflammatory, anti-biotic, anti-aging, anti-oxidant, anti-viral, anti-diabetic and anti-cancer properties. Although everyone can eat it and it does not have any special side-effects, still if you are pregnant or have any health problem, then you must consult a doctor once.

According to Ayurveda, how should Giloy be eaten?

  • Soak the leaves and stem of Giloy overnight. Crush it then boil it. After this, put it in 1 glass of water in the morning and boil it till it remains half. Sieve it and drink it.
  • You can also eat Giloy in the form of dry powder. For this, soak it in water overnight. In the morning, boil it until it remains a quarter and then filter it and drink it. If you do not have diabetes, you can add jaggery to it for taste.
  • Along with Giloy leaves, you can also make a decoction by mixing basil leaves, turmeric and cloves.
  • Take Giloy powder with warm water and honey in the morning. Add 1 tsp of Giloy powder to lukewarm water, then add honey and drink it first thing in the morning.
  • Start your day with Giloy juice in the morning. Mix 10ml Giloy juice in lukewarm water. You can also take it before eating. But it is heavy to digest, so only those who have a good metabolism should take it.
