Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik and other wrestlers were sitting on a dharna since January 18 at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. While marching towards the new Parliament on May 28, they clashed with the Delhi Police. After this they were taken into custody.

It may be noted that WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has been accused of sexual harassment by women wrestlers. In protest against this, other wrestlers including Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik were sitting on a dharna at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar from 18 January. At the same time, on May 28, while marching towards the new Parliament, they clashed with the Delhi Police. After this he was detained and later released, after which the wrestlers have reached Uttarakhand to flow their medals into the Ganges.

1983 World Cup winning team supported

Many former players have expressed grief over the indecent behavior meted out to the wrestlers. In such a situation, the 1983 Cricket World Cup winning team has issued a statement on the protest of the wrestlers.

Other wrestlers including Sakshi Malik, Vinesh Phogat have reached Uttarakhand to flow their medals in the Ganges. In Rishikesh too, wrestlers are sitting on a dharna.
