Krishan Kant

Krishna Kant was an Indian politician and freedom fighter. Krishna Kant was the Vice President of India from 1997 to 2002. He was the 10th Vice President of India. He was the only Indian Vice President to die while in office.

Krishna Kant was born on February 28, 1927 in Kot Mohammad Khan, Amritsar district of Punjab. Lala Achint Ram and Satyavati Devi were his parents. Both of Kant's parents were freedom fighters. Krishna Kant's parents had to go to jail several times due to their participation in the freedom struggle. His father Lala Achint Ram became a member of the Constituent Assembly after India's independence. His mother, Smt. Satyavati Devi was a respected personality. Krishna Kant was married to Suman Kant. His wife Suman Kant was a social worker. The Kant couple had two sons and a daughter.
