Zakir Hussain was a former Indian politician. In 1963, he was awarded India’s highest award Bharat Ratna. He was the second Vice-President and third President of India. His tenure as President was from May 13, 1967 to May 3, 1969.

Birth and Family


Zakir Hussain was born on February 8, 1897. Zakir Hussain was born in a wealthy Pathan family of Hyderabad, Telangana. His father’s name was Fida Hussain Khan and his mother’s name was Nazin Begum. At the age of 18, he was married to Shahjahan Begum. They had two daughters, named Saeeda Khan and Safia Rehman.
