The UN’s special envoy on sexual violence in conflict, Pramila Patten, made the horrifying claim that Russia is using rape and sexual assault as part of its war strategy in Ukraine and providing Viagra to its soldiers. This accusation is undoubtedly the most horrifying since the start of the conflict in Ukraine. Earlier this year, horrifying pictures of dead victims with their wrists bound lying on the streets of Ukrainian cities appeared online, exposing the uglier reality of Russian intervention in Ukraine.
Patten also provided a report from the UN on the sexual crimes committed against Ukrainians as part of the “war,” highlighting the fact that more than 100 such incidents have been documented since the start of the armed aggression.
Donetsk officials who are supported by Russia claimed that Ukrainian forces damaged the administrative building on Sunday.
When questioned if sexual crimes are being perpetrated, Patten stated in an interview with the news agency AFP that there are definite signs that show the victimisation of victims.
