Adolescence actor Owen Cooper becomes the youngest recipient of Emmy award

Owen Cooper, 15, won the Emmy award for his excellent role in Netflix mini-series Adolescence. He plays a 13 years old boy, accused of murdering a classmate. He becomes the youngest actor to win.

• Adolescence actor Owen Cooper becomes the youngest actor  to win the Emmy award. His role in the Netflix Mini series Adolescence was well received by critics and audience alike. He is a British actor who won the prestigious Emmy award at just 15, an achievement many dream of. In his acceptance speech he urges people to come out of their comfort zones and how he is amazed to even come to the US let alone winning an Emmy award. 
• “Standing up here is just, wow, It’s just so surreal. Honestly, when I started these drama classes a couple years back I didn’t expect to be even in the United States. Never Mind here but I think tonight proves that if you listen and you focus and you step out of your comfort zone you can achieve anything in life. I was nothing about 3 years ago. I’m here now so I think if you’re listening, you’re focusing, you just step out of your comfort zone a little bit, who cares if you get embarrassed? You Know, anything can be (Possible)” He said

• Adolescence was appreciated by the British Prime Minister Keir Starmer for the message it sent and wanted it to be screened at every school. Cooper played the role of a 13-year-old boy who is arrested on suspicion of murdering his classmate. Written by actor Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne, the series clinched six awards that night.
• The 15-year-old from Warrington was just 14 when he was cast as Jamie Miller, a 13-year-old boy arrested for the murder of a classmate, and the role was his first professional job. Co-written by actor Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne, praise was heaped on Cooper for his naturalistic performance.

The 77th Emmy Awards took place on 14th September 2025 live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles hosted by Nate Bargatze.
