The origin of Hakla meme

The meme started as a mimicry of Shah Rukh Khan’s dialogue in the movie Darr where he says “K-K-K-Kiran” in a stammering voice. The Term Hakla in Hindi means “stammerer” . The GIF uses a photo of an unidentified person and Shah Rukh Khan’s face has been edited on it. With pigtails and partial baldness. The Meme was actively shared under comments and by meme pages.

After his social media comment section was flooded with the meme used as a GIF, it was allegedly removed by his team. After not finding the GIF anymore, Netizens started sharing the meme made with dots and it was all over social media. Under Bullying policy concerns The GIF was removed but the dots could not be removed.

 The photo was now being edited with real audio, Bizarre costumes, Censored spelling H@kl@. It did not stop at all and gained even more popularity than before. Although the original meme is old enough, netizens can’t stop laughing after seeing the meme. According to certain people, the original meme not being much popular made it even more funny. 

Fine and Jail term on sharing the meme? 

There are concerns among the people if there are certain laws that can put you in jail after sharing such memes. As a matter of fact, there is no specific Indian cyberbullying law that talks about a 3 lakh fine and jail term for sharing GIFs. The social media GIF was taken down on the grounds of cyberbullying and harassment policy of meta but In India, there are no such laws that imposes strict laws. 

Earlier a similar incident happened when Mamata Banerji’s face was morphed into priyanka Chopra's Met Gala look with people hilariously sharing it. The creator was arrested and held in custody; it sparked controversies and debates erupted over freedom of speech. Such morphing of images happened countless times but no action was taken so the strict action on this particular person was condemned.
