“The two Presidents plus myself” Trump to chair Putin-Zelensky meet

 

On Monday, in the white House, President Trump hosted Zelensky and 7 leaders from Europe to discuss geopolitical unrest in the continent due to the Russia-Ukraine war. 

Trump prepares for Putin-Zelensky meet 

After the much anticipated meet proved to be fruitful, the president Trump is actively preparing for a three way meet to happen among Putin-zelensky and himself. 
Putin and Trump had a phone conversation where the former agreed to hold peace talks with Zelensky. 

“I called President Putin and began the arrangements for a meeting, at a location to be determined, between President Putin and President Zelensky.After that meeting takes place, we will have a Trilat — the two Presidents plus myself. This was a very good, early step for a War that has been going on for almost four years.” Trump said. 

This is going to be the first time after the aggressive invasion of Ukraine by Russia that the presidents have been willing to have a face-to-face conversation. Zelensky said "force Russia into peace”. Ahead of their meeting in white House, Zelensky appreciated the leadership and invitation of donald trump for making efforts into solving the tensions between the russia-ukraine.

The European leaders in the USA pursued peace talks in the European continent and specifically de-escalate war between russia-ukraine. The European leaders that arrived in the white house were UK Prime minister Keir Starmer, Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni, French President Emmanuel Macron, Finland’s President Alexander Stubb, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen pose and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. 

Putin Rejected ceasefire until Ukraine surrenders parts in the east 

Trump and Putin’s meeting last week lasted three-hours which included talks on ceasefire, deals and possible ways to stop the war. Putin has rejected a ceasefire but is willing to do so if Zelensky gives away the eastern part of its territory. Zelensky has firmly expressed his intention of not surrendering in any way. “Ukrainians will not give their land to the occupier.”

The Russia-Ukraine War started on 24 February 2022 and continued for more than three years. The Russian troop has made attempts to capture parts of Ukraine one after another and Ukrainian forces have continued to resist the aggression and refused to surrender. The main reason for Russia to invade Ukraine was the decision to be a part of NATO, which is an organisation headed by the USA.
