Breach Candy Hospital employee arrested for filming veteran actor Dharmendra in ICU

A viral video showed veteran actor Dharmendra lying in bed unconscious, surrounded by family members in the ICU. Netizens were quick to point out the insensitivity of the person who recorded it and called for an arrest. It was an employee at Breach Candy Hospital who was later arrested. 

Hospital staff arrested for recording ailing Dharmendra 

• The past few days were tough for Veteran actor Dharmendra and his family. The media had announced him dead, and condolences poured in, even when the reports were fake. It was Hema Malini, his second wife, who released a statement calling off all the speculations. Sunny Deol, his son, while coming out of the hospital, looked visibly drained emotionally. On finding media and paps waiting to shoot the family, Sunny tried to ignite shame in them by saying, “Don’t you have family? Aren’t you all ashamed?”.

• A new video has surfaced online that shows veteran actor Dharmendra lying unconscious in the ICU. The room was filled with his family members. His first wife, Prakash Kaur, sat by his side, and Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol seemed emotional. Karan Deol and Rajveer Deol, sons of Sunny Deol, were present there as well. The situation looked miserable the day he was admitted. Rumours of his death were all over social media, and the new channels began offering their condolences. 
• The person who recorded the video has been identified as a staff member at Breach Candy Hospital, where he was admitted. When the video gained attention, netizens called out irresponsible behaviour and demanded an arrest for breaching the privacy of the family. The staff member was arrested for the said reason. 
• Hema Malini and her daughter Esha Deol shared on social media, that he was doing much better than before and is very much alive. Hema Malini posted, “What is happening is unforgivable! How can responsible channels spread false news about a person who is responding to treatment and is recovering? This is extremely disrespectful and irresponsible. Please give due respect to the family and its need for privacy.”

• Days later, around 7:30 am, he was discharged, and his family released an official statement, “Mr. Dharmendra has been discharged from the hospital and will continue his recovery at home. We kindly request the media and the public to refrain from any further speculation and to respect his and the family’s privacy during this time. We appreciate everyone’s love, prayers, and good wishes for his continued recovery, good health, and long life. Please respect him because he loves you.”
