Apple plans for stage rollouts of more OLED featured devices: Launch date and prices

The chic black screens and thinner bodies available in Apple devices are to be made available in iPad Air, iPad mini, and also in MacBook Air. They are currently in the testing phase and are scheduled to be launched over several years rather than in one go. The change aims to bring forward inclusivity and allow users to experience the features on other devices. The prices and date of launch have not been revealed yet.

OLED to be featured in more devices

  • Apple utilized OLED technology to give its devices a distinctive look, having a decade-long history with it, following its adoption in 2015. They featured OLED in small and high-end devices, but mostly limitedly; now, the tech giant plans to feature it in a few more devices. Apple Watch, launched in 2015, was the first device to come with AMOLED.
  • iPhone X, launched in 2017, was the first iPhone to feature an OLED display, and OLED continued to be featured in iPad Pro (M4) 2024. Vision Pro first generation 2024 uses Micro-OLED displays. As per the reports of Bloomberg, one of the watchdogs of technology, Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) display technology is being used. It is a comprehensive plan, and Apple looks forward to launching it in the market at intervals. It is worth noting that these products are in the trial phase and may take a good amount of time to be launched.
  • The iPad mini is scheduled to be launched in 2026, and the MacBook Air in 2028. This decision follows the integration of Tandem OLED in the iPad Pro (M4). The decision to launch products with OLED is to narrow down the distinction between “pro” and “air”. Even though the precise date and time of the much-awaited devices have not been disclosed yet but it is clear that it may take three or more years for users to lay their hands on.

 iPad mini (Expected Launch: 2026)

The device is referred to as the first non-Pro tablet to receive an OLED upgrade due to its smaller size and cost-effectiveness than larger Air models. It features Rumored 8.5 to 8.7 inches, 120Hz ProMotion, may use chip of A19 Pro (expected), Water-Resistant Casing (IP Rating), and prices may start at $599.

iPad Air (Expected Launch: 2027)

The information available about iPad Air is limited due to its launch date; it is to be upgraded with an OLED Display. Its selling point would be OLED Display, and the M6 is expected to be used. The current device used is M5. Prices may differ from the current prices due to the upgrade and but most of the features are to remain the same.

MacBook Air (Expected Launch: 2028 or Later)

One of the most durable devices is to be launched with an OLED display. The transition is considered complex due to the large panel size and burn-in risk. The chip of M7/M8 is to be used. The Pro version is likely to be launched first with Tandem OLED, and later the MacBook Air.
