Donald Trump’s portrait on coins? The Trump administration’s next mission

Donald Trump administration plans to use his portrait on $1 coins, Media portals questions the decision calling it an attack on democracy, and operate like a monarchy.

Portraits of Donald Trump on $1 coins, another controversy

  • Last week, the Treasury Department proposed coins of $1 with plans to release them with portraits of the serving President of the United States.
  • The plans were met with criticism as the 1866 act prohibits the use of living individuals’ faces on American currency. The Treasury Department stated that the decision is legal after the enactment of the 2020 Act.
  • Several Media portals, like The New York Times, have stated that it is an attempt by Trump to establish a monarchy where the rulers direct the use of their portraits. “Operating like a monarchy, featuring living leaders on money,” said the New York Times.
  • Coins serve as a bulletin board, reflecting what the current administration stands for, and this decision is being viewed as illegal and overpowering.
  • The Treasury Department has been defending the act, and most probably, this change is to be surfaced soon.
